OMEGA auction raises over $600,000 for Orbis

We'd like to say a huge thank you to OMEGA for raising more than US$600,000 to help Orbis improve access to eye care around the world by donating 100% of the proceeds from a Sotheby’s online auction of 11 MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold suitcases.

The auction was the first time these cases, each containing 11 OMEGA x Swatch “Mission to Moonshine Gold” watches, were offered as one set. The money raised will go towards our mission to build strong and sustainable eye care systems globally that put treatment and prevention within reach.

The cases contain 11 watches and were on display in 11 OMEGA boutiques around the world.

Orbis International President and CEO, Derek Hodkey, expressed his gratitude for the donation, saying,I am incredibly grateful to OMEGA and their continued support of Orbis. It was thrilling to watch the auction over the last two weeks and see the enthusiasm for these unique items spread around the world. I even had the privilege to view one of the beautiful suitcases on display at the OMEGA store in New York City. Congratulations to the 11 lucky bidders.”

OMEGA’s President, Raynald Aeschlimann, said, “This unique auction really captured the imagination of MoonSwatch fans around the world. We’re so thrilled that the proceeds can now go to Orbis. We believe whole-heartedly in their eye care mission, and we’re so pleased to have raised money as well as awareness for their work.

Our partnership with OMEGA

OMEGA has been a proud supporter of Orbis since 2011. Through two documentary films featuring OMEGA brand ambassadors Daniel Craig and Cindy Crawford, OMEGA helped raise vital awareness of our mission.

They have also sponsored Flying Eye Hospital projects in Mongolia and Qatar, where we trained women eye care professionals from conflict-affected areas, and our most recent project in Zambia. These projects give doctors in under-resourced communities access to cutting-edge medical equipment like ophthalmic simulation centers so they can practice their surgical skills in a safe environment.

The donation will also help fund eye care innovations like artificial intelligence and virtual reality, and our online e-learning tool Cybersight, which allows us to reach more eye teams with best-in-class training than ever before.

Thank You OMEGA

We want to give an enormous thank you to OMEGA for this generous contribution. Through more than a decade of support, OMEGA has helped us train thousands of eye care professionals, and in turn improved access to quality eye care for countless people.
