FedEx Canada | Orbis

FedEx Canada

Since 2009, FedEx Canada has been the National Event Sponsor of Plane Pull for Sight, our annual signature fundraising event taking place in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. With the support of FedEx and its team members across Canada, Plane Pull for Sight has raised more than $2.3 million to support Orbis's sight-saving work around the world.

Taking place every spring/summer at FedEx Canada ramps in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, Plane Pull for Sight challenges teams of up to 20 people – friends, family, colleagues and coworkers – to work together to pull a 60-tonne FedEx 757 cargo plane a distance of 20 feet.

This ultimate tug-of-war challenge offers an excellent team building opportunity as well as an array of fun games and activities for participants and their families to enjoy, including the always popular Kids’ Pull.

As National Event Sponsor and host of Plane Pull for Sight, FedEx Canada is integral to the overall success and longevity of the event.

Along with donating the use of its planes, facilities and staff volunteers for the pull, FedEx Canada team members and their families are enthusiastic participants, and fully embrace the opportunity to support Orbis’s sight-saving work around the world. In fact, in 2022, we welcomed a record number of FedEx teams, including 29 teams at our flagship event in Toronto.

In 2020, COVID-19 force the cancellation of our in-person Plane Pull for Sight events. But thanks to the continued support of FedEx Canada, we delivered the first-ever Virtual Plane Pull for Sight. Then, in 2021, we launched a new virtual event model, Flight for Sight. This innovative event combines a series of video and virtual flight simulation moments with live-hosted games, skill-testing trivia and team problem-solving challenges.

With the support of FedEx Canada and its team members, Plane Pull for Sight and Flight for Sight has raised more than $2.3 million to support Orbis's sight-saving work around the world.
