Linn, whose parents lovingly call her “Nanda” (meaning “lucky one” in Burmese), was born with rubella. The infection eventually caused her to develop cataracts in both eyes. When the Flying Eye Hospital visited Mandalay, Myanmar, Linn was selected as a valuable teaching case because of the unique complication of her rubella.
Linn Really is a "Lucky One"
As Linn anxiously awaited her surgery, Seymour was right there by her side.
Linn was understandably scared and clutched Seymour tightly as she was prepped for surgery. When she woke up following the successful procedure, Seymour was right there to comfort her.
Linn's complex surgery was performed by pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Ramesh Kekunnaya, an Orbis Volunteer Faculty member from L.V. Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India.
Linn was all smiles as she sat in the recovery room surrounded by her family. With her sight restored and a future full of possibility ahead, it was time for Linn to head home – but not without Seymour in tow!
Linn and her family were overjoyed with the results of her surgery, and Seymour was thrilled he could be there to support Linn along the way.
Linn's Father
“This experience is a life-long memory. Now my baby can see the world again. She’s very intelligent, and as an educated person, she’ll be able to do whatever she wants.”
Seymour has been there to comfort thousands of children who could have lost their vision forever if not for the sight-saving treatment they received thanks to Orbis and our supporters – people just like you.
With your support – and Seymour’s cuddles – we can help change the lives of so many more children like Linn who urgently need eye care.
