Plane Pull for Sight Toronto Sets a Record

On Sunday, May 27, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Plane Pull for Sight Toronto by raising a record-breaking $88,409 (and counting) - the highest fundraising total in the history of the event!

Thank You Toronto...It Was a Record-Breaking Year!

What a day!  On behalf of all of us at Orbis, we extend a sincere thanks to everyone who participated, pulled, cheered, volunteered or donated in support of this year's Plane Pull for Sight Toronto, proudly sponsored by FedEx Express Canada. 

It was a gorgeous day at the FedEx ramp at Pearson International Airport as we celebrated our 10th anniversary of Plane Pull for Sight Toronto. This year's event saw a total of 38 teams and more than 1,500 people fill the tarmac for a day of fun and friendly competition in support Orbis and the fight to end avoidable blindness.

With the generous, caring and enthusiastic support or our participants and their donors, the 2018 Orbis Canada Plane Pull for Sight Toronto raised an amazing $88,409 (and counting) - the highest fundraising total in the history of the event!

We’re beyond excit­ed about this year’s record-set­ting fundrais­ing total in Toron­to. This was tru­ly a team effort — so many of our teams this year raised well over the $2,000 min­i­mum, which just goes to show how much they care about Orbis and work we do to save sight and trans­form lives around the world.

What's even better is that the money raised in Toronto this year has officially put us over $1 million in fundraising since the event began 10 years ago! It's an incredible milestone and it's all thanks to our amazing supporters.

A big congrats also goes out to our fastest pulling team of the day, BMW TruNorth, who pulled the 132,000+ lbs. FedEx 757 cargo plane in a very fitting sub-ten-second time of 00:9:56!  That's some serious horsepower!

Once again, thanks to all of you - our team captains, team members, donors, sponsors, and volunteers - for making the 2018 Plane Pull for Sight Toronto our biggest and best yet! We look forward to seeing you next year!
