Orbis Canada Plane Pull for Sight 2016 a massive success
Orbis Canada’s Plane Pull for Sight has just wrapped up for another year after raising the most money in its eight year history. Over $161,000 was raised by Participants and Sponsors as Orbis Canada welcomed 53 teams to Toronto Pearson International Airport and Vancouver International Airport over two Sundays in June. This brings the grand total raised over the eight years to almost $700,000.
The task for the teams of twenty was straightforward but far from easy. Pull a 60-tonne 757 airplane 20ft as fast as they could. After a lot of expended energy and effort, all teams did an amazing job and managed to accomplish the feat.
The 3,000 participants and spectators in attendance at the two events enjoyed not only the perfect weather, but also a host of fun activities including bouncy castles, dunk tanks, bungee-runs, face painters, gourmet food trucks and vertigo inducing performance artists.
We would like to say a big Thank You to our Partners FedEx Express at whose facilities the events took place. We would also like to thank them for their generous sponsorship and continuous support through the organizing process. Orbis Canada would also like to thank our other sponsors, Alcon, L’Occitane en Provence, Hainan Airlines, Allergan, UCruising and FedEx Office for their incredible support without which the event could not take place.
A final thank you needs to be said to our great volunteers who helped in both cities and who come back year after year. Again like with our sponsors, without your assistance and support, Plane Pull for Sight would not be able to take place and we would not be able to raise such massive amount of money to support us in our goal of eradicating avoidable blindness around the world.
We hope to see everyone back next year along with some new teams to see if we can break our fundraising record for a third straight year.
